Corn Tortilla Workshop
Have you ever considered that Tlaxcala translates to "place of the corn tortilla" in Quechua? This highlights the deep cultural and culinary relevance of corn tortillas in this Mexican region, home to the city of Huamantla, where we will engage in this exciting activity.
Upon gathering at your selected time at the Las Candelas hotel, we will proceed to a venue where a detailed explanation of corn farming in this area and the history of the renowned corn tortillas, a staple of Mexican cooking, will be provided. You will have the opportunity to observe up to 10 distinct types of organic corn cultivated by locals, each contributing to their traditional dishes for these delightful tortillas. Think there’s only one kind of corn on the cob? Prepare to be surprised!
Following the informative session, you will take part in a workshop to apply the techniques learned and craft your own corn tortillas. To conclude our experience, we will indulge in a sampling of local corn-based delicacies.
After approximately an hour and a half of delving into this crucial and tasty aspect of Mexican culture, we will conclude our session and bid farewell.
