Acaiá Cave+ Ilha Grande Lagoons Tour
Description
While visiting Ilha Grande, seize the chance to embark on a tour of the Acaiá Cave and its stunning lagoons. Its enchanting vistas are sure to captivate you!
Tour Overview
At the scheduled time, we will convene at the Vila do Abraão pier. A boat will be waiting to transport us towards the southwest region of Ilha Grande, specifically heading to the Alcaiá Cave. Each of our stops will last between 30 to 40 minutes. Let's set sail!
The first destination on our journey is Lagoa Azul, an essential visit for everyone exploring this area. Here, you'll be greeted by countless small fish swimming in the clear and shallow waters of the lagoon. Its name reflects the resemblance it bears to Port Antonio in Jamaica, where the renowned film The Blue Lagoon was filmed. This serene retreat is recognized as one of the 7 wonders of Ilha Grande, perfect for unwinding away from urban chaos.
Next, we will explore the Acaiá Cave, measuring approximately 30 m (98 ft) in width and standing about 1 m (3.2 ft) high. Our access involves a descent of around 10 m (32 ft) through intricate passageways. Prepare yourself for this magnificent natural wonder!
At a depth of 8 m (26 ft) below sea level, a narrow crack allows water to flow into an underground chamber, creating a pebbly beach within the cave. The sunlight shimmering on the water produces an extraordinary level of fluorescence. As you delve into the cave's darkness, you'll notice a mesmerizing turquoise-green mist that sparkles like diamonds.
Continuing our adventure, we head to Lagoa Verde, known for its emerald-hued waters and a quaint sandy beach. Here, you can find not only the Abudefduf fish but also a variety of marine life, making it ideal for snorkelling enthusiasts!
Our final stop will be a beachfront restaurant, where you can enjoy a tasty traditional island dish featuring fish and bananas, should you desire to refuel. Delightful!
After enjoying lunch, we will make our way back to the meeting point, concluding our tour after approximately 7 hours of exploration.
