4-Day Amazon River Cruise
Description
Immerse yourself in the stunning wildlife, serene river excursions, and vibrant jungle explorations during this four-day expedition in the Peruvian Amazon, navigating along the largest river in the world.
4-Day Amazon River Expedition
Day 1
Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation, followed by a trip to Bellavista port, where a boat awaits to transport you to a jungle lodge. Along the way, we will pause at the confluence of the Amazon and Nanay rivers to observe the unique local wildlife that resides in these waters—be vigilant for piranhas!
Later in the afternoon, a small boat will take us to a local settlement inhabited by the AQL Timicurillo community, where you will gain insight into their traditions and daily life.
Your evening will consist of a delightful dinner at the lodge, with the option to embark on a nighttime excursion to explore the jungle under the stars.
Day 2
We kick off our day with a visit to Neyser Island, home to a renowned snake sanctuary. Here, you’ll have the chance to observe various reptiles up close, along with other fascinating species such as anteaters, sloths, monkeys and turtles.
Next, we’ll travel by boat to the San Juan de Huashalado farm to tour the “El Encanto de Rony” rescue center, where you can encounter anacondas, blue parrots, red parrots, and other wildlife.
Our visit continues with a sample of unique aphrodisiac beverages such as Rompe Calzón, 7 Raíces, Levántate Lázaro, and Espérame en el suelo. Additionally, we will taste various medicinal drinks, including Camú Camú and ginger, alongside copaiba oil and other preparations, beneficial for bone health.
In the afternoon, we will take to the water once more, fishing in the Amazon River while appreciating the serene sunset. The day will conclude with dinner back at the lodge, where you'll hear captivating myths and legends of the Amazon.
Day 3
After a refreshing breakfast, a canoe adventure awaits on the Yanayacu River, teeming with diverse bird species, monkeys, and towering trees. This area is a bounty for anglers and features both grey and pink dolphins.
We'll have lunch outdoors, either at a farmer’s home or aboard the boat, before we return while admiring the beautiful Amazonian sunset. Dinner will be served at the lodge, where you can unwind after an exciting day.
Day 4
On the last day, we rise early for a brief jungle walk to witness a breathtaking sunrise. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we'll jump into a day packed with activities.
We will explore a local community to experience traditional dance and crafts, where you'll have the opportunity to collect a unique souvenir. Later, we will connect with a local indigenous community to learn about their traditional medicinal practices.
After savoring a delightful lunch, we will begin our return journey to Iquitos, which takes approximately 2.5 hours. A drop-off back at your hotel or another designated location will conclude your adventure.
