Description
Experience the vibrant ecosystem, river excursions, and immersive jungle explorations: uncover the wonders of the Peruvian Amazon during this captivating 4-day adventure along the largest river on our planet.
4-Day Amazon River Experience
Day 1
Our journey begins at 426 Calvo de Araujo Street, where we will make our way to Bellavista port. A boat will be ready to transport us to our jungle lodge. En route, we will pause at the confluence of the Amazon and Nanay rivers, offering a chance to observe the local wildlife that thrives here. Keep an eye out for striking piranhas!
Later in the afternoon, a small boat will take us to a nearby town inhabited by the AQL Timicurillo, providing insights into their traditions and daily life.
As evening falls, we will return to the lodge for dinner, with an optional night walk to experience the jungle's nocturnal sounds and ambiance.
Day 2
The second day starts with a visit to Neyser Island, famous for its snake sanctuary. Here, we will not only encounter various reptiles but also spot anteaters, sloths, monkeys, and turtles.
Following this, we’ll hop on a small boat to the San Juan de Huashalado farm and visit the “El Encanto de Rony” rescue center, where we can observe a variety of creatures, including an anaconda and colorful parrots.
Our adventure continues with tasting local aphrodisiac beverages such as Rompe Calzón and 7 Raíces, alongside medicinal concoctions like Camú Camú and copaiba oil, recognized for their health benefits.
After a delightful lunch, we’ll set out in boats or canoes for a fishing expedition while enjoying the stunning sunset over the Amazon. Dinner at the lodge will be accompanied by tales of the myths and legends of the Amazon.
Day 3
We'll kick off the morning with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a canoe excursion along the Yanayacu River. This lush expanse is home to a rich array of wildlife, including birds and monkeys, as well as grey and pink dolphins swimming in the waters.
An open-air lunch will be enjoyed either at a local farmer's home or aboard the boat. On our way back, we’ll take in the breathtaking sights of an Amazonaian sunset, followed by a relaxing dinner at our accommodation.
Day 4
On our final day, we'll rise early to embark on a brief night walk through the jungle, witnessing the dawn of one of nature's most stunning sunrises. After returning to the lodge for a nourishing breakfast, the day's activities will begin.
We will visit a local community, where we can engage in traditional dances and observe the craftsmanship of their artisans, taking home somewhat of a unique keepsake. In the afternoon, a trip to a local indigenous community will allow us to learn about their traditional medicinal practices.
After a fulfilling lunch, our journey back to Iquitos will commence, lasting approximately 2.5 hours.
Itinerary Adjustments
Due to the prevailing drought conditions, access to the lodge by boat may not be possible. Instead, a 30-minute walk will be necessary to reach our destination. Typically, droughts continue until November.
