Activity Details

At the designated time, we’ll collect you from your accommodation in Iquitos and proceed to the Bellavista Nanay port, marking the beginning of our Amazon adventure. Upon our arrival, you will be greeted at this picturesque port, an ideal entry point into the Amazon’s vast wilderness.

We’ll board a boat and navigate along the Nanay River, enjoying breathtaking views as we move towards the point where it meets the grand Amazon River. During this leg of the journey, you will learn about the historical and ecological significance of the world’s longest river and the essential role it plays in supporting local populations.

Our route will lead us to the Yanayacu River, a captivating protected area distinguished by its dark waters. This ecosystem boasts substantial biological diversity, allowing you to witness how the region's flora and fauna have adapted to thrive.

Once we disembark at the Yanayacu riverbank, we will embark on a hiking trail through the jungle. During this trek, you will observe species such as lupunas and huimbas, along with various medicinal plants that local communities have traditionally utilized.

Afterward, we’ll return to the boat for the thrilling search of wildlife, including monkeys, exotic birds, iguanas, sloths, and various reptiles. This adventure promises to be delightful!

At midday, we’ll partake in a traditional Amazonian meal on board, savoring authentic dishes amidst the natural surroundings. The lunch will feature "Juane", a delightful mix of chicken, egg, olives, and rice prepared inside a green biajo leaf, served alongside salad, fruit, and water. This culinary experience is truly special!

Following lunch, the adventure continues with the opportunity to try fishing for piranha using time-honored techniques. You will gain insights into this ancestral method in the regions of Yanayacu or the Amazon River.

As we conclude our day, we will sail back along the Amazon River, taking in the stunning transformation of light and colors during sunset. Should fortune be on your side, you might spot the enchanting gray and pink dolphins of the Amazon. The spectacle of nature is simply unforgettable!

Our day trip will wrap up as we return to Iquitos, where we’ll bid farewell at your hotel approximately 9 hours after your pickup.
