3 or 4-Day Tour of the Yanamono Forest

Day 1: Arrival at Yanamono Forest

Your adventure begins in Iquitos, where we'll pick you up at the airport and transport you to the port of Iquitos. From there, we'll board a boat destined for the captivating Yanamono Forest.

Upon arrival at our lodge, your home for the next three days, we'll set down our luggage before setting off to Monkey Island, a sanctuary dedicated to rehabilitating primates to prepare them for life back in the wild.

After our visit to the refuge, we'll return to the lodge for lunch. Later, an exciting hike through the Yanamono Forest awaits, where you'll uncover the rich biodiversity of this unique region while capturing memorable photographs along the way.

As dusk settles, prepare for a breathtaking experience: cruising the Amazon River at sunset! This serene excursion provides a fascinating glimpse of the nocturnal wildlife that thrives in the Peruvian jungle.

Your first day will conclude as we return to the lodge for a restful night.

Day 2: Immersion in the Yanamono Forest

Kick off day two with an early bird watching tour. Though it requires an early rise, you'll find it rewarding as we explore the myriad bird species native to the Yanamono Forest and their unique characteristics.

Returning to the lodge for breakfast, we’ll then visit a community of Indigenous Amazonian Peoples. Here, you'll gain insights into their traditional lifestyles, cultural heritage, and artisanal crafts, alongside their ancestral hunting, fishing, and farming methods.

Following this cultural immersion, we’ll indulge in a typical local meal before setting off for a fishing trip on the Amazon River. Afterwards, prepare for the highlight of the day: a quest to spot the enchanting pink dolphins of the Amazon, a remarkable natural spectacle! We'll return to the lodge before dinner, taking a leisurely evening stroll through the Yanamono forest.

The day wraps up with a delightful dinner at the lodge.

Day 3: Departure from Yanamono Forest

After breakfast, we will embark to discover the Victoria Regia water lilies, renowned as one of the largest aquatic plants globally and an emblem of the Peruvian Amazon. We’ll take a boat to a nearby lake where these stunning plants bloom.

As this unforgettable day unfolds, we will make our way back to Iquitos, concluding our 3-day journey and transport you to the Iquitos airport.

4-Day Tour Extension

Upon booking, you have the option to extend your adventure to a 4-day tour. On the fourth day, enjoy a canoe excursion along the Amazon River.

Accommodation Details

During both the 3-day and 4-day tours, accommodations will be provided at the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge with full board included.

This lodge offers a tranquil retreat amidst nature, featuring rustic-style rooms that boast high ceilings, large windows, a private bathroom, and a terrace outfitted with a hammock and rocking chairs. Ceiling fans are also available for comfort.

Guests can enjoy various amenities such as a swimming pool, a solarium with hammocks, and a spacious dining area.

Flight Information

We recommend the following guidelines for booking flights:

• Outbound flight from Lima to Iquitos: Aim to arrive before 9 am.
• Return flight from Iquitos to Lima: Plan your departure for after 6 pm.

Arriving or departing outside these times will incur an additional boat transfer fee of 180 USD per person.

These timing suggestions do not apply if you stay overnight in Iquitos either before or after the tour.
