Portal San Antonio Day Trip
Description
Embark on this day trip to Portal San Antonio, where you'll have the opportunity to explore the wetlands of Iberá Park by kayak, coupled with a hiking trail that reveals endemic flora and fauna. Get ready to be captivated by the natural surroundings!
Day Trip Overview
Our journey begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Ituzaingó. We will travel in an off-road vehicle for approximately one hour towards the southwest. Our destination? El Portal San Antonio, a vibrant area within Iberá Park that boasts lush grasslands, palm clusters, and unique wetland vegetation. Prepare to dive into an exploration!
Upon arrival, we’ll set off on a kayaking excursion. We’ll navigate gently through the waters, which allows us to immerse ourselves in the environment while minimizing any disturbance to local wildlife. It’s worth noting that Iberá ranks among the most significant wetlands in South America.
As we paddle along, we can expect to observe endemic species such as birds, capybaras, caimans, black yacarés, herons, and perhaps even swamp deer hidden among the greenery. The timing of our kayaking venture is ideal for wildlife observation, as many animals remain active before retreating from the midday heat.
Throughout our journey, we will gain insights into the various habitats, including ponds, reed beds, and water hyacinth fields, all acting as vital corridors for fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds. This experience will feel like a real-time nature documentary unfolding before our eyes!
Following our kayaking adventure, we will pause to enjoy breakfast, featuring an assortment of traditional pastries, both sweet and savory, paired with your choice of herbal teas, served either hot or cold.
After refueling, we’ll meander along the Medicinal Trail, where we’ll encounter native plant species and delve into their historical uses within Guaraní culture, ranging from aromatic herbs to those traditionally employed for medicinal purposes.
Once our walk concludes, we will return to the off-road vehicle and head back to your hotel, thereby concluding this enriching 6.5-hour day trip. Until next time!
