Tour Overview

At the appointed time, we will pick you up from your accommodation in João Pessoa to embark on our trip to Areia, which will take roughly 2.5 hours. Let’s set off!

Upon arrival in Areia, a locality recognized for its historical significance by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage, we will embark on a guided walk through its winding streets, flanked by 18th and 19th-century structures. These edifices harmoniously coexist with the region’s unique semi-arid landscape.

Our first stop will be the Pedro Américo House Museum, dedicated to one of Paraíba's prominent artists. Following this, we will head to Casarão José Rufino de Almeida, noted as the oldest mansion in Vila Real de Areia, to delve into its history and the lives of its original inhabitants.

As we continue, we will arrive at Budega do Vavá, renowned for its assortment of flavored spirits and artisanal cachaças from Paraíba, along with traditional treats such as Rapadura. Can you resist the allure of a delightful souvenir? Next, we will visit the Minerva Theatre, the first of its kind in Paraíba, which played a pivotal role during the abolitionist movements championed by young advocates in the 19th century.

Feeling peckish? We will pause for 1.5 hours at the Vó Maria rural restaurant, celebrated for its wood-fired cooking and clay pot dishes. Once revitalized, we will travel to the Cachaça and Rapadura Museum, established in the 18th century as a sugar mill, where you can observe antique machinery and a traditional clay alembic.

Following this, witness the crafting process of Cachaça Triunfo, where you will have the chance to sample cane sugar juice and cachaça ice cream. This location also features a tranquil lake with boats available for a leisurely break, and here you may purchase local products if desired.

Our adventure will conclude at the Casa da Farinha Pôr do Sol, a venue dedicated to preserving regional cultures, where we will take in the stunning sunset typical of northeastern Brazil.

Finally, we will make our way back to the bus for the return journey to João Pessoa, ensuring you are dropped off at your hotel after a fulfilling 13-hour experience.
