Tour Overview

We will convene at 7346 Kumalo Street at the designated time. Once everyone is gathered, our Soweto adventure will commence. Are you prepared for a blend of culture and history?

Our first stop will be the Hector Pieterson Memorial, where we will delve into the importance of the 1976 Soweto Uprising, a significant event that reshaped the apartheid narrative.

Following this, we will stroll down Moema Street, retracing the path of the historic march from 1976. While on Vilakazi Street, we will pause at Nelson Mandela's House, which served as his home until his arrest. You will have 20 minutes of free time to explore inside and admire the photographs and accolades displayed within.

Our next stop will be the residence of Desmond Tutu, the acclaimed Anglican archbishop and a notable human rights advocate in South Africa. Afterwards, we will take a break at a local eatery where you can savor a tasty kota, a street food delicacy akin to a sandwich.

Reinvigorated, we will board a minibus to experience local transportation towards Orlando East, where the informal settlement of Nomzamo Park resides. This part of the trip offers a glimpse into the everyday lives of its community members.

As we near the end of our 4-hour excursion, we will visit the iconic Soweto Towers, marking a fitting conclusion to our tour.
