Auschwitz and Salt Mine Private Tour
Description
Embark on a private excursion to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines, where you'll have the opportunity to explore the largest Nazi concentration camp under the guidance of a knowledgeable English-speaking expert, shedding light on the grim realities of the Holocaust during World War II.
Auschwitz and Salt Mine Private Tour
Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Krakow at the designated time, followed by a drive to Auschwitz, where we will arrive in just over an hour to one of the key locations that witnesses the horrors of the Nazi regime, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Upon arrival, the private tour in English will commence, taking you through the expansive grounds of the largest extermination camp established during World War II. As we explore the former prison blocks, now turned into exhibition spaces, as well as the gas chambers and crematoria, you will gain insights into the horrific techniques employed by the SS guards that led to the suffering and death of over a million individuals.
Your visit continues at Auschwitz II-Birkenau, where the train tracks mark the arrival points for Jews, Romi people, homosexuals, Spanish Republicans, and others, who awaited their fateful destinies.
After completing the tour, you'll have around 40 minutes of leisure time before we head to the town of Wieliczka, where you can enjoy an hour and a half for lunch at your own pace.
Subsequently, we will delve into the Salt Mines, an awe-inspiring underground network featuring over 20 galleries. Here, you can witness stunning lakes and chambers adorned with sculptures and bas-reliefs crafted from salt blocks, including the renowned chapel of St. Kinga, which is entirely decorated with salt elements.
Following our exploration of the mines, we will return you to your hotel in Krakow, with an estimated arrival about 10 hours after our initial pickup.
Why Opt for a Private Tour?
Choosing a private tour ensures a tailored experience. Additionally, if you're part of a larger group, this option could be a more cost-effective solution.
Essential Information
- Please ensure the name entered during the booking process matches your ID precisely, as any discrepancies might lead to denial of entry to Auschwitz.
- Visits to the camp can solely be conducted by officially accredited guides recognized by the museum, and not by independent guides. Confirmation of your guide is guaranteed only between 12 and 16 hours ahead of the activity.
- It is essential to meet the minimum group size required by all operators to access the camp with a guide. If this number isn't met, the activity may either be cancelled or rescheduled.
- We will secure tickets and a guide once the minimum group threshold is achieved. However, for last-minute reservations, there may be unavailability of guides, leading to possible cancellations.
- Your booking will be considered confirmed once you receive a detailed confirmation and timing for your hotel pickup from the local team.
- If the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum cannot confirm the private visit, the local team will reach out with alternative suggestions. Should those options not meet your needs, you are entitled to a no-cost cancellation and may opt for the more frequently available group tour instead.
- In case of cancellation, a non-refundable fee of 38EUR per person will be applicable, as it covers the Salt Mine admission ticket cost.

Important information
The provider will contact you to arrange the exact pickup time from your hotel in Krakow, as it depends on the location of the accommodation. Pickup will generally be between 6 and 8 am. Please be ready 10 minutes in advance. Please note that these times are flexible.
Additional Info
- Please check any messages you receive from Civitatis the day before the activity, as the local team will send you all the essential information you need to take part in the tour.
- Due to high visitor numbers, the schedule may be subject to changes. Please make sure your phone is fully operational in case of any last-minute updates.
- Visits to the camp can only be conducted by official guides accredited by the museum itself, not by external guides. Guide confirmation is only guaranteed between 12 and 16 hours before the activity.
- All operators require a minimum group size to access the camp with a guide. If this minimum is not reached, the activity may be cancelled or rescheduled.
- On our end, tickets and a guide are secured as soon as the minimum group size is reached. However, for last-minute bookings, guides may not be available and the activity could be cancelled.
- If there are any changes to the tour's departure time, we will notify you at least 15 to 24 hours in advance.
- The activity will be considered definitively confirmed once you receive a detailed service description and your hotel pickup time from the local team.
- Please note that according to Auschwitz regulations, only one change per booking is permitted (whether that's a date, time, or name change). For name changes, a maximum of 10% of names may be modified. For example, in a group of 20 participants, only 2 names can be changed.
- The Salt Mine visit takes place between 3:45 pm and 4:15 pm.
- If, for any reason, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum does not confirm the private visit, the local team will get in touch to offer alternative options. If none of the proposed alternatives are suitable, you may cancel your booking free of charge and book the group visit instead, which is generally available more frequently.
- In the event of cancellation, a non-refundable charge of 38EUR per person will apply, as this corresponds to the cost of the Salt Mine admission ticket.
Changes to the Number of Participants
For group bookings of more than 10 people, you may only add up to 10% of the original group size after the reservation is confirmed. For example, if your reservation is for 6 people and you want to add 3 more, that’s fine. However, if your group is between 10 and 19 people, only one additional participant can be added. For groups of 20 to 29, only two extra people can be added.
Please note that canceling and attempting to rebook for a larger group does not guarantee availability. It is highly unlikely that Auschwitz will approve a new reservation for a larger number of participants on nearby dates.
Once a private tour with named tickets has been confirmed, the provider cannot change the time or cancel the tour.
