On the scheduled day, we will meet you at your Kraków hotel and make our way to Wieliczka, a charming town located merely 15 km (9.3 mi) away, renowned for being one of Poland's top attractions.
This remarkable Wieliczka Salt Mine, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1978, is among the oldest globally. Upon arrival, an extensive guided exploration will commence, revealing its stunning chambers, lakes, and intricate sculptures formed from salt rock.
We will descend 213 ft (65 m) underground using a grand staircase that leads directly to the depths of Wieliczka. Known as the "underground cathedral," this site features over 245 km (152 mi) of tunnels, galleries, and chambers inspired by notable figures like Chopin and Goethe.
Your guide will delve into the rich history of the mine, detailing the miners' culture and the salt extraction process that has been ongoing since the 13th century!
A highlight of the tour will be the Chapel of St. Kinga, a magnificent 177 ft (54 m) hall entirely adorned with salt. We will also encounter the underground lakes and the chamber that hosts dances and even sports events. Each corner of Wieliczka is sure to impress!
After approximately 3 hours of exploring the Salt Mine, we will ascend back to the surface and return to your hotel in Kraków, concluding our journey about 4 hours post pickup.

Important information
On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Krakóvia at the designated time. Please be at the hotel reception at least 15 minutes before the tour starts.
Important Info
- Bags and backpacks larger than 11x7x11in (30x20x10cm) are not allowed in the mines. They can be left on the bus.
- The tour of the mines lasts 3 hours and the temperature inside ranges between -10ºF and -8ºF (14ºC-16ºC). Don't forget to bring a jacket or sweater!
- The tour involves descending 800 steps on foot, 350 of which are the initial descent to enter the mine. The elevator is only used for the return trip to the surface.
- Students must show ID.
