Kutaisi Georgian Cooking Class
Description
In this cooking class in Kutaisi, you'll prepare traditional khinkali while discovering the secrets of Georgian hospitality within a local family home. Wine tasting included!
Cooking Class in Kutaisi
At the designated time, we'll meet at 14 Kaukhchishvili str. After greeting each other, we'll step into a typical family home in Kutaisi and immerse ourselves in the authentic culinary tradition of Georgia.
We’ll don our aprons and get ready to make the famous khinkali. Our first step will be preparing the dough made from wheat, water, and salt. We’ll learn how to knead the gluten until it reaches the right texture to properly encase the stuffing, ensuring it doesn't break while boiling.
Next, we’ll create the traditional stuffing by mixing minced meat with chopped onion, pepper, and aromatic herbs like cilantro. We'll incorporate cold water or broth to form a juicy emulsion that will become the flavorful broth enclosed within the khinkali as they cook.
After that, we’ll master the accordion-style pleating technique to shape the distinctive crown of the khinkali. We will seal each piece by hand-twisting it to ensure it is firmly closed. While our khinkali boil, we’ll enjoy a tasting of 4 wines and Georgian vodka. Did you know that local wines are fermented in qvevri, underground clay amphoras?
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for arrives as we gather around the table to taste our khinkali creation. You’ve earned this treat!
We will conclude this cooking class experience after 2 hours.
