Unlimited Travel Across Kansai and Hokuriku

With the Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass, you gain unlimited travel on local trains and buses for 7 consecutive days within the designated areas of the Kansai and Hokuriku regions. The pass also includes reserved seating on shinkansen routes, specifically from Shin-Osaka to Okayama and between Kanazawa and Joetsu-Myoko.

Furthermore, it encompasses access to essential regional train services such as the Haruka, Thunderbird, Kuroshio, and Kounotori, which link critical urban centers. This greatly simplifies your journey as you navigate the magnificent landmarks of Japan without dealing with multiple ticket purchases.

How It Functions

The Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass enables unlimited train and bus travel within the Kansai and Hokuriku regions for a period of 7 consecutive calendar days, commencing from the first day of utilization. To activate the pass, present your printed voucher alongside your passport at specified JR ticket offices.

Key Information

This pass is exclusively for non-Japanese citizens.

It is important to be aware that the following routes and train services are not included in the Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass:

  • Travel between Joetsu-Myoko and Tokyo on the Hokuriku Shinkansen
  • The segment between Shin-Osaka and Tokyo on the Tokaido Shinkansen
  • Okayama to Hakata on the Sanyo Shinkansen
  • IR Ishikawa Railway*
  • Ainokaze Toyama Railway*

The pass does not cover the additional fee for “A Seat” services on special express trains.

*Exceptions allow the pass to be utilized on the Himi, Johana, or Nanao lines, provided the pass holder does not disembark on the IR Ishikawa Railway (from Kanazawa to Tsubata) or the Ainokaze Toyama Railway (between Takaoka and Toyama).

Limited express trains may operate on the IR Ishikawa Railway (between Kanazawa and Tsubata).

Please note that if you wish to use the Ainokaze Liner express service on the Ainokaze Toyama Railway, an extra liner fare will be required.

Children under 5 years of age can accompany an adult with a pass free of charge, with a maximum of two children per adult.

Important information

Once you have made your reservation, you'll receive an electronic code that you'll have to present directly on the buses or at the attractions when you use it for the first time.

You will have to present your passport together with the card on all your trips.

Please remember that the card is active after its first use, and will remain valid for the following 7 consecutive days.

Important Info

The following routes and trains are not included in the price of the Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass:

  • The trip between Joetsu-Myoko and Tokyo on the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train
  • The route between Shin-Osaka and Tokyo on the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train
  • The journey between Okayama and Hakata on the Sanyo Shinkansen bullet train
  • IR Ishikawa Railway*
  • Ainokaze Toyama Railway*

The pass does not cover the “A Seat” paid seating service on special express trains.
