Kyoto Walking Tour
A highlight of your journey can be the Fushimi Inari Shrine, a standout landmark in Kyoto famous for its thousands of striking red torii gates and scenic trails. Close by, you may opt to visit the Tofukuji Temple, a Zen temple celebrated for its majestic wooden bridges and stunning gardens—particularly breathtaking during autumn.
Another option is the Sanjusangendo Temple, which is well-known for housing 1,001 statues of Kannon, the goddess of compassion. Alternatively, we can visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers breathtaking views of Kyoto.
Afterward, take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka Streets, where you can find traditional boutiques, tea houses, and charming cafes, providing a genuine glimpse into Kyoto's past.
A visit to the Yasaka Shrine is also on the itinerary, renowned for its festive lanterns and vibrant celebrations. Then, we can make our way to Maruyama Park, a serene oasis in the city that blossoms with cherry trees and tranquil ponds—perfect for a short respite to savor the park's beauty before continuing.
An additional site worth including is the Chion-in Temple, which is famous for housing one of Japan's largest temple bells. The striking architecture of this temple is sure to impress!
Lastly, you may wish to explore the Gion District, celebrated as Kyoto’s traditional geisha area. Walking through its narrow streets lined with classic teahouses, you may be fortunate enough to spot a geisha or a maiko (a geisha apprentice) going about her daily activities!
