Excursion to the Fortuna River Waterfall

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in La Fortuna at the scheduled time. After a brief five-minute drive, we will arrive at the Fortuna River Waterfall Reserve, where an unforgettable three-hour hike awaits.

This stunning reserve is part of a protected natural area, overseen by the Integral Development Association of La Fortuna, which aims to generate funds that benefit the local community. The tropical forest surrounding the Fortuna River Waterfall is incorporated within the Arenal Volcano National Park and spans an impressive 210 acres.

Upon entering the reserve, we’ll pause at the viewpoint to capture photographs of the breathtaking landscape. Then, we will descend a trail comprising around 500 steps leading to the base of the Fortuna River Waterfall. With a bit of luck, we might spot indigenous wildlife such as toucans, oropendolas, and butterflies!

At the waterfall's base, you can admire the stunning 230-foot drop and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pristine waters fed by the mountains of the Children's Eternal Rainforest. Be sure to bring your swimsuit!

After swimming, we will ascend the path back to the top, where a delightful snack of fresh fruit awaits. Following this refreshing break, we will conclude the excursion with a return trip to your hotel in La Fortuna.
