Itinerary Overview

Day 1

Our adventure kicks off at Sagarnaga Street in La Paz, where we will board a minibus destined for the soaring peaks of Huayna Potosi. Approximately two hours later, we will arrive at our base camp located at Zongo Pass, which sits at an altitude of 4700 meters (15,400 feet).

After savoring a tasty lunch, we will dive into training sessions to prepare for our forthcoming ice climbing and trekking expedition. Utilizing the lower glacier as our training ground, we will familiarize ourselves with crampons, the ice axe, and critical safety measures during the next two days.

As daylight fades, we will gather for a delightful dinner, engaging in warm conversations while enjoying the tranquil ambiance of the mountain backdrop.

Day 2

On the second day, we will embark on our Huayna Potosi expedition, starting with a two to three-hour hike aimed at reaching a higher altitude camp located at 5350 meters (17,550 feet).

As we navigate the trail, we will take breaks to breathe in the crisp air and admire the stunning panoramic vistas of the Andes and the Bolivian altiplano that Huayna Potosi so generously provides.

Upon reaching our camp, we will relax, enjoy a nourishing dinner, and retire early to ensure we are well-rested for the final day of our mountainous journey.

Day 3

We will begin our day with an early departure for a remarkable glacier trek that seems to transform under the starlit sky, enhancing the adventure's already captivating charm.

After an extensive trek, we will achieve the summit of Huayna Potosi. Weather permitting, this crucial point offers breathtaking views of Bolivia's natural wonders, including Mount Sajama, the Cordillera Real, and the renowned Lake Titicaca.

Our journey will include scaling a 30-meter ice wall, maneuvering over crevasses, and testing our endurance, all rewarded with unforgettable perspectives.

After soaking in the extraordinary views from the summit, we will begin our descent to the high camp, where a delicious traditional meal will replenish our energy. Later in the afternoon, we will continue our journey down to the base camp, where we will catch our minibus back to La Paz.

2-Day Alternative

For those preferring a shorter path, we offer a 2-day hike. On this option, we will follow a similar itinerary but within a compressed schedule. Once we arrive at the base camp and have lunch, we will proceed to the high camp, ascending past 5200 meters.

The following day will involve an early hike and ice climbing, culminating in the descent as outlined in the day three itinerary.
