Day Trip Details

Your journey begins at the appointed hour at the Santorino restaurant, conveniently located across from the Samaná pier, where we will board a ferry to Sabana de la Mar. Get ready to set sail!

Following a scenic one-hour ride, we will arrive at the pier of Sabana de la Mar, where a vehicle will be on hand to transfer us to Los Haitises National Park. Once we reach our destination, we'll start on an accessible hiking trail through the lush forests of this remarkable natural haven in the Dominican Republic.

As we walk through Los Haitises, you'll have the chance to appreciate the diverse flora and fauna. This area features a variety of orchid species and a plethora of birdlife, including pelicans, scissor-tailed flycatchers, and parrots.

During the roughly hour-and-a-half trek, we will explore multiple caves adorned with genuine Taíno rock paintings, showcasing the legacy of the ancient civilizations that once thrived here. You're sure to be captivated!

The exploration of Los Haitises National Park progresses with an exhilarating kayaking experience in the mangrove forests. We'll paddle through slender waterways enveloped by dense mangroves and the park's distinctive mogotes, which can rise to heights of 30 to 40 meters (98 to 131 feet).

After approximately 1.5 hours of kayaking, enjoy some leisure time to take a refreshing swim in the park's natural pools, perfect for relaxation amid the beauty of the surroundings. Following your swim, a delicious traditional Dominican meal will await you. Enjoy!

In the later part of the day, we will transport you back to the Sabana de la Mar pier for the ferry journey back to Samaná. This marks the end of an enriching 8-hour experience.
