Tour Overview
Day 1
Our adventure begins at the designated meeting point along the boardwalk of Leticia, where we will board a boat bound for Puerto Nariño. As we cruise for two hours along the Amazon River, you'll be surrounded by incredible biodiversity. Upon arrival in Puerto Nariño, we will initiate our exploration of this vibrant community, home to several indigenous groups, while learning about the Ticuna, Cocama, and Yagua tribes.
Later in the evening, we'll equip ourselves for a nighttime expedition through the jungles of Puerto Nariño, uncovering the fascinating world of exotic insects and amphibians. We will conclude the day by returning to our accommodation for a well-deserved rest.
Day 2
The second day kicks off with a hearty breakfast followed by a visit to Maloka Tikuna, where you’ll discover the ancestral rites and traditions of this Amazonian community through insights shared by local families. Participate in a workshop featuring traditional games and the use of natural paints.
Post-lunch, we will embark on a boat excursion along the Loretoyacu River, during which we will discuss the fascinating wildlife including crocodiles, piranhas, and river dolphins that inhabit these waters. As the day winds down, we'll enjoy a scenic sunset over the river and have the opportunity to spot the black caimans that frequent the area. Dinner will follow, and we’ll return to our lodging for the night.
Day 3
On our third day, prepare to be captivated by the stunning vistas of the Lake Tarapoto wetlands. After breakfast, we will journey back to Puerto Nariño and traverse the jungle via a series of wooden bridges.
After approximately three hours of travel, we will reach the indigenous community of San Martin de Amacayacu, where a local family will warmly welcome us. After enjoying lunch, we will explore the community to gain a deeper understanding of their lifestyle, trades, and language.
Our accommodation for the night will be within the community, allowing for an immersive experience.
Day 4
Beginning with breakfast, we will take a canoe ride through Amacayacu National Park heading to Mocagua. Here, we will delve into the rich traditions and customs of local Amazonian tribes.
After our midday meal, we will visit the Mocagua monkey sanctuary. The primates here have been rescued from illegal trafficking, providing a unique chance to interact with and feed them.
As the day concludes, we will return to our accommodation in Puerto Nariño for some rest.
Day 5
The final day will be dedicated to our return journey to Leticia. After enjoying breakfast in Mocagua, we will depart at 7 am.
