At the scheduled time, your driver will pick you up from your hotel to embark on this comprehensive León tour, recognized as one of Nicaragua’s most picturesque colonial cities. Let the journey commence!

Your first stop will be the church of La Recolección, celebrated as a premier baroque structure in Central America. Here, you’ll appreciate its beautifully adorned mustard-hued facade.

Just a short walk away is the Paraninfo de la UNAN-León, situated within the grounds of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, the nation's oldest university. This building, distinguished by its tall wooden windows, is rich in history, being the birthplace of several vital student movements during the 20th century.

Next, we will head to the Ortiz Guardián Foundation Art Museum, nestled within a set of connected colonial mansions. Upon entering, you will be greeted by polished volcanic stone floors and ceilings supported by wooden beams.

During a 30-minute exploration of the museum’s rooms, you will encounter works from renowned artists such as Picasso, Chagall, and Miró, as well as celebrated local figures like Armando Morales. Throughout this leg of the tour, you'll gain insights into his distinctive artistic approach.

Your journey will lead you to the spiritual centerpiece of León: the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, a designated World Heritage Site and the largest cathedral in Central America. The facade elegantly combines austere baroque and neoclassical elements. Here, you’ll bask in its grandeur, observing its five stone-walled naves embellished with golden altars.

Within its walls, a visit to the revered tomb of Rubén Darío, the revered father of literary modernism in Nicaragua, awaits you. His tomb, protected by a marble lion, serves as a significant symbol for the people of León. Weather permitting, you will also have the opportunity to ascend onto the stunning terraces, where breathtaking vistas await.
