Colonial Lima + China Town Tour
Description
This fascinating guided journey invites you to explore colonial Lima and Chinatown, a vibrant intersection of diverse cultures within the heart of the Peruvian capital!
Colonial Lima + Chinatown Exploration
We'll gather at 10 am in the central plaza of Lima to commence our expedition through the historic and colonial sectors of the city. Our first destination is the impressive cathedral of Lima, the final resting place of the renowned conquistador Francisco Pizarro, including a visit to its revered museum.
From there, we'll stroll along the streets of the city’s historic center, culminating our walk at the Cordano Tavern, one of Lima's oldest and most iconic bars. Here, you can unwind while sampling local beverages, such as chicha morada or the famous pisco sour.
Next, we will venture to the Convent of San Francisco, a remarkable piece of architectural history dating back to the 17th century. We will take a tour of the sanctuary, including an exploration of its ancient catacombs, remnants of Lima's colonial past.
Following this visit, we’ll head to the Central Market, a vibrant hub showcasing traditional products that have been part of Lima for centuries. Our journey continues into the Barrio Chino, a distinctive neighborhood established by Chinese immigrants, where we can observe local shops and chifas, or Asian eateries. Here, the atmosphere feels distinctly Asian, rather than Peruvian!
The tour will conclude around 1 pm at this location.
