Details of the Day Trip
We will begin this day excursion to Canta and the Guaya Empire by picking you up from a designated location in Lima at the agreed time. Are you aware that there’s a destination commonly referred to as the "Machu Picchu of Lima"? Let's embark on this adventure!
After a scenic 3-hour drive, our first stop will be Santa Rosa de Quives, where a delightful traditional breakfast awaits. Here, we will visit the historic chapel of St. Rose of Lima, a site imbued with both history and reverence. Don't miss the opportunity to drop a letter at the renowned wishing well during our visit!
Next, we will head to the Tusho viewpoint, a perfect location to admire the stunning views of Canta Valley. Capture memorable moments next to landmarks such as Cristo (Christ), La Mano Gigante (The Giant Hand), and La Luna (The Moon).
From this vantage point, we will embark on a 30-minute hike to reach La Merced Waterfall, nestled in an extraordinary landscape. Upon arrival, you will find a small natural pool and a grotto dedicated to the Virgin of Mercy, offering you the chance to unwind and reconnect with the natural surroundings.
Continuing on our path, a brief 10-minute walk will bring us to the Guaya Empire, also fondly referred to as the 'Machu Picchu of Lima'. Here, you will encounter stone-carved replicas reflecting the ancient Peruvian civilizations. A visit to the Museum of Ancient Cultures will unveil intriguing ceramic pieces and artifacts from the Chavín, Moche, and Chimú cultures.
After two hours of exploring this remarkable site, we will proceed to the charming village of Obrajillo, where you can enjoy a traditional lunch and sample local delights like cheese and sweets. Following your meal, take the time to browse for souvenirs and stroll through its picturesque streets. Refreshed, we will then visit the Lucle Waterfall, accessible by walking or, should you prefer, on horseback or via motorbike.
Before we make our way back to Lima, our final stop will be in Canta, where you'll visit a local winery to taste traditional sweets, cheeses, and yoghurts. This will be a delightful conclusion to this immersive adventure filled with culture and nature!
Ultimately, our journey will return us to Lima, where we will bid farewell at the meeting point after an enriching 16-hour experience.
