Nevado Rajuntay Hike

Itinerary Overview

We will commence our adventure at the scheduled time, departing from Lima towards the Junín region, home to the stunning Rajuntay mountain within the Andes. After a one-hour drive, a brief stop at Chicla or Corcona will allow us to stretch our legs, purchase a quick snack, and prepare for the journey ahead.

Approximately seven hours after our departure, we will reach the viewing point of Nevado Rajuntay. Here, we can acclimatize to the cooler temperatures while enjoying the breathtaking sight of the sunrise illuminating the mountainous landscape.

Our 4-hour trek towards the summit of Rajuntay will begin from this vantage point. As we ascend, we will pass by the Pucacocha Lagoon, taking a moment to soak in the awe-inspiring views. Our hike will continue until we reach the glacier of Rajuntay, positioned at an elevation of 5200 meters (17060 feet) above sea level.

After taking in the magnificent sights from the summit, we will start our descent, totaling approximately 8 hours of trekking. Once we arrive back at the vehicle, our return journey to Lima will commence, with a scheduled stop to have a meal at a local restaurant along the way.

We aim to return to Lima by around 8 pm, where we will conclude our day of adventure.
