Introduction

Our tour features the beautiful city of Linares, located in the heart of the Maule Region, an example of the Chilean huasa zone. It is named after don Francisco Espinoza Muñoz de la Mata Linares, the Intendant of Concepción at the time of its founding.

Plaza de Armas

Founded on May 23, 1794, by Ambrosio O'Higgins, Linares served as the Intendencia of Concepción under Francisco de la Matta Linares.

Catedral de Linares

Constructed between 1935 and 1937, this Romanesque-style cathedral features a rectangular layout, lateral chapels, and significant mosaics, holding high architectural value.

Edificio de la Municipalidad

Inaugurated in 1931, this neoclassical building includes works by national artist Pedro Olmos.

Gobernación de Linares

Built around 1880 during President Balmaceda's administration, it was originally the Intendencia of Linares and is designed in a Neoclassical style.

Logia Masónica de Linares

Founded in 1924, this Masonic lodge has served as a meeting place for prominent individuals in Linares and Chile.

Iglesia Corazón de María

Inaugurated on December 9, 1905, this church features a blend of neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic styles and has suffered damage from earthquakes.

Alameda

The first Alameda was established in 1843, evolving from poplar trees to oaks and finally to the current arrangement of Oriental planes, including areas for recreation.

Mercado Central

The original market dates back to the late 19th century, formalized in the 1940s to organize trade and serve the community.

Calle Independencia

This main street serves as a commercial hub and leads back to the plaza, featuring popular cafes. ```
