Situated in the vibrant Parque das Nações, the Lisbon Oceanarium was launched during the Expo '98 with the motto "The Oceans: A Heritage for the Future."
Designed by architect Peter Chermayeff, this remarkable aquarium is recognized as one of the finest in the world and boasts the title of the second largest aquarium in Europe. Within its walls, you can find over 15,000 captivating creatures representing 500 distinct marine species, including ocean sunfish, manta rays, stingrays, sea otters, and sharks.

What to See in the Lisbon Oceanarium
Over the course of about 2 hours, you will navigate through numerous rooms, unveiling the centerpiece of the aquarium’s main exhibit: a sprawling central tank showcasing tuna, seahorses, unicorn fish, and a plethora of other ocean-dwelling species. The massive aquarium holds an astonishing 7 million liters of water!
Among the many highlights of the Lisbon Oceanarium is the representation of diverse marine ecosystems, including the rocky shores of the North Atlantic, the coral reefs of the Indian Ocean, the Antarctic coastline, and the kelp forests of the Pacific Ocean.
Opening Times
The Lisbon Oceanarium operates from Monday to Sunday, from 10 am to 8 pm, with the last entry available one hour prior to closing.
During Christmas, the operating hours are as follows:
- December 24-31: open from 10 am to 7 pm, with final admission at 6 pm.
- December 25 and January 1: from 11 am to 8 pm, allowing last access at 7 pm.

Important information
Oceanarium Address
On the day of the activity, you must go to the entrance gate of the Lisbon Oceanarium, located at Esplanada Dom Carlos I, 1990-005 Lisbon. You will have to show the code on your voucher at the entrance that says 'Entrada Bilhetes Online' to skip the admission line.
Opening Times
The Lisbon Oceanarium is open from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. Final admission is 1 hour before closing time.
At Christmas, the opening times will be as follows:
- December 24-31: from 10 am to 7 pm, with last access at 6 pm.
- December 25 and January 1: from 11 am to 8 pm, with last access at 7 pm.
