Night Trip to Fátima + Candlelight Procession

Embark on an evening journey to Fátima, a renowned site of Marian significance, where you will experience the renowned Candlelight Procession.

Description

We will gather at Praça Marquês de Pombal at the appointed time and board our minibus for the trip to Fátima.

After approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes on the road, we will arrive at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, a key destination for pilgrims from across the globe. Our visit begins at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, where you can view the striking memorials dedicated to the three shepherd children who reported divine encounters with the Virgin Mary in this location back in 1917.

Next, we will visit the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity and the Chapel of the Apparitions, where a pedestal indicates the exact site of the Virgin Mary's appearances to the shepherds. This sacred area serves as the launching point for the Candlelight Procession, which begins at 9:30 pm. This evocative event features the treasured statue of the Virgin of Fátima carried in procession, alongside the collective recitation of the Rosary.

As this poignant occasion unfolds, the gathered pilgrims will quietly follow the Virgin with their candles lit, as her figure moves across the esplanade and returns to the chapel. The candlelight's gentle illumination, paired with the Rosary's recitation in the enveloping darkness, produces an atmosphere that is both profound and stirring.

Following the procession, which lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, we will return to Lisbon, reaching our original meeting point around 5 hours after our departure.
