Your journey will commence at a time of your choosing at the main entrance of Planetarium EC1. From this point, we will embark on an engaging private exploration of Lodz, focusing on its significant commercial heritage.
We'll venture into the industrial district to understand how this city became prosperous. Notably, it served as the textile production hub of the Russian Empire, attracting many Jews and Germans who migrated to Lodz during the 19th century due to the plethora of factories.
Our initial destination will be the vibrant Ulica Piotrkowska Street, a 4-kilometer-long boulevard brimming with museums, cafes, theaters, and shops. Although it suffered extensive damage in World War II, restoration efforts initiated in 1990 revitalized this main thoroughfare.
As we approach the end of the avenue, we'll encounter the Izrael Palace Pozna?ski, a stunning neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque edifice that rose from the wealth of the cotton industry. Inside, you'll find the city museum, showcasing an impressive collection of coins, sculptures, manuscripts, and artistic works.
Our next stop will be the Manufaktura, a large shopping complex constructed from red bricks, originally the industrial site of the philanthropist Izrael Pozna?ski. Here, we will take a moment to appreciate the architecture, noting details like the grand entrance of the former spinning mill, resembling a triumphal arch!
After an enriching four-hour experience, our tour will conclude.
