Blenheim Palace with the Churchill War Rooms

We will gather at Bulleid Way, near Victoria Station, at the specified hour to embark on an in-depth exploration of British wartime history and aristocratic elegance. As we leave London’s lively atmosphere behind, we will venture into the significant sites that influenced one of the 20th century’s most prominent figures.

Our journey begins at the Churchill War Rooms, where the original underground command center was utilized during wartime. You’ll have the chance to traverse the corridors, preserved as they were in 1945, and visit the Cabinet War Rooms, where pivotal decisions were made, along with the Map Room, which still displays the initial pins marking troop movements throughout Europe.

After delving into the mysteries of the bunker, we will continue to Blenheim Palace, a stunning Baroque estate set in Oxfordshire, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This grand structure, completed in 1722, is renowned for being the birthplace of Winston Churchill and serves as the ancestral residence of the Dukes of Marlborough.

Within its lavish State Rooms, we will encounter a collection of exquisite portraits and tapestries, as well as the Grand Library and an exhibit dedicated to Churchill. You will have time to wander through the magnificent grounds, spanning over 1976 acres (800 hectares) of parks and gardens, thoughtfully designed by landscape artist Capability Brown, while discovering the realities of service life in the presentation “Life Below Stairs.”

The day will conclude with our return to the original meeting point in London, completing this 11-hour experience.

Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds

This tour offers a visit to Blenheim Palace, with an alternative to the Churchill War Rooms, allowing for the exploration of quaint villages within the Cotswolds.

Our first stop will be at Burford, referred to as the “gateway to the Cotswolds,” which attracts many visitors. We will stroll along its renowned High Street, taking in views of the River Windrush. The historic architecture and vibrant streets provide ample chances for photographs and a chance to enjoy refreshments at your convenience.

Next, we will proceed to Bourton-on-the-Water, often called the “Venice of the Cotswolds.” This destination is celebrated for its romantic scenery. The river that meanders through the village creates a picturesque setting, encouraging a relaxed pace of exploration, sure to enchant you throughout your visit!

This 11-hour journey will conclude as we return to the meeting point in London.

Important Information

If you join this tour in April, May, September, or October, the bus will first make a stop at Buckingham Palace, where your guide will lead you on a brief walk to the Churchill War Rooms (only for the option including this site).
