Griffith Observatory Tickets + Audio Guide
Description
Explore the Griffith Observatory, a renowned space science center, and enjoy stunning panoramic views of Los Angeles with this audioguide.
Why Visit the Griffith Observatory?
The Griffith Observatory is a must-see highlight in Los Angeles, offering more than just a picturesque backdrop for the famous dance scene in La La Land; it is one of the most influential astronomical observatories in the world.
Inaugurated in 1935, the observatory was envisioned by Griffith J. Griffith to provide the residents of Southern California and people worldwide the opportunity to observe and learn about astronomy and science. Designed as a public space, it breaks with tradition by making astronomy accessible to everyone—not just to scientists.
Since its opening, the observatory has served various purposes. During World War II, it trained pilots in astronomical navigation, and in the 1960s, astronauts from the Apollo program received their training here. The included audio guide allows you to uncover these and many other intriguing stories, providing insights into one of the most visited attractions in Los Angeles.
Inside, you will discover planetariums, telescopes, and microscopes that will transport you through the cosmos. The observatory features various rooms, including the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, Leonard Nimoi Event Horizon Theater, Wilder's Eye Hall, Edge of Space, and the Keck Central Rotunda, a space that artfully combines science and mythology.
Your audio-guided ticket grants you access to captivating stories from some of history's prominent astronomers while you admire the stunning Hugo Ballin Murals. To enhance your visit to Griffith Observatory, don’t forget to step onto the terrace for the best views of Los Angeles and the iconic Hollywood sign.
