La Gomera Small Group Day Trip

On this day excursion to La Gomera, we will depart from the southern region of Tenerife to explore the highlights of the second smallest island in the Canary Islands. This journey will be undertaken in a small group.

Day Trip Overview

At the scheduled time, we will convene at the Port of Los Cristianos, located in southern Tenerife, from which we shall embark on a ferry toward San Sebastián de La Gomera, the island's capital.

The ferry ride from Tenerife to La Gomera will span approximately 30 minutes. Once we disembark, a bus will transport us as we commence our exploration of the island. Our adventure begins at the region of ancient volcanoes, where we will pause at the Roques viewpoint to marvel at the unique occurrence of horizontal rain.

Subsequently, we will travel to the Roque de Agando viewpoint, a prominent symbol of La Gomera. As we venture into the Garajonay National Park, we will immerse ourselves in the lush surroundings of the laurel forest ecosystem, a remnant of the Jurassic period.

Continuing outside the park, we will arrive at the village of Chipude, where you can sample traditional delicacies from La Gomera, including almogrote cheese and wine. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore the church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria located in the town square.

Reboarding the bus, we will proceed to El Cercado, home to a pottery museum where local women preserve a 500-year-old craft. Our final viewpoint stop will be at Valle Gran Rey, providing us with stunning views of one of La Gomera's most picturesque canyons.

As we continue our journey, we'll pass through the village of Las Hayas and re-enter the park, concluding with a visit to Laguna Grande. Here, you will have between 1 to 1.5 hours for lunch at a traditional restaurant. During this time, you'll witness the silbo gomero, a captivating whistled language native to the archipelago. After lunch, a circular trail awaits, allowing you to experience the laurel forest firsthand.

The next destination will be the Juego de Bolas Visitor's Centre, where we will explore the House of Memory and enjoy tasting the traditional biscuits of La Gomera, crafted with gofio. Our return to San Sebastián will take us through the scenic northern villages of Agulo and Hermigua.

Once in the capital, you will have around 45 minutes of leisure time to visit historical sites associated with Christopher Columbus, including the Torre del Conde and Columbus' House, prior to his voyage to the Americas.

In conclusion, we will return to Tenerife, with a total trip duration of 9.5 hours.
