La Palma & Tajogaite Volcano Day Trip
Description
Join us on this exciting day trip to La Palma, as we depart from Tenerife to experience stunning viewpoints and explore the aftermath of the Tajogaite Volcano eruption. Witness the unique landscape formed since the 19th of September 2021.
Day Trip to La Palma & Tajogaite Volcano
At the designated meeting point, we’ll gather at the Port of Los Cristianos in southern Tenerife. Here, we will board a ferry and embark on a journey towards La Palma, aiming to closely observe the latest volcanic eruption in the Canary Islands, known as the Tajogaite eruption.
After a 2.5-hour ferry ride, we'll land in Santa Cruz de La Palma, where a guided tour will unveil the charm of its colonial architecture. Our next destination will take us inland to the stunning Mirador de la Cumbrecita, located within the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.
Following our exploration, we'll make a stop in El Paso for lunch, depending on the package selected. Post-lunch, we’ll observe the changing vegetation as we proceed towards the Tajogaite volcano, the long-dormant Cumbre Vieja. Our guided session will cover topics of volcanology and provide insights into how the Canary Islands were created. We will also discuss the local experiences during the tragic Teneguía eruption in 1971 that impacted La Palma.
Our next stop will be the Tacande neighborhood, where an exceptional view of the volcano awaits. The tour will then lead us to Tazacorte, allowing us to explore the lava flows that have emerged from the Tajogaite volcano.
In Tazacorte, enjoy a delicious typical Canarian lunch. The menu will feature two traditional dishes. Once we have enjoyed our meal and gathered strength, we will proceed to the Mirador de Tajuya for a final breathtaking glimpse of the majestic volcano.
To conclude our day, we will make our way back to Santa Cruz de La Palma, where we will board the ferry for our return trip to Tenerife, expected to arrive around 7:30 pm.
