Hiking + Caving in Los Gigantes
Description
For those with a spirit of exploration, this hiking and caving experience in Los Gigantes promises to be a thrilling journey through the stunning landscapes of northern Argentina.
Hiking + Caving Adventure in Los Gigantes
Upon making your reservation, you will have the opportunity to select from a variety of itineraries, each differing in trail length and activity location. Regardless of your choice, we will convene at the allotted time along the RP28 Route of Los Gigantes.
Hiking and Caving by the La Bestia River
Opting for this option means embarking on a 12-kilometer (7.5 miles) trek. This medium-high difficulty route, lasting around 9 hours, will lead us to an elevation of 1600 meters (5,250 feet). We will take breaks to rest, savor the breathtaking views of the province of Cordoba, and enjoy the picnic lunch you bring.
Our journey begins at the Batán ravine, proceeding along the path to the entrance of the underground river La Bestia. Prepare to explore below ground as we descend 72 meters (236 feet) into the earth. Expect to navigate through waterfalls, tight passages, and five expansive chambers.
Additionally, you will encounter a section requiring you to swim through a 35-meter stretch (114 feet), with walls as narrow as 60 centimeters (2 feet). This is sure to get your adrenaline pumping!
At the end of an action-packed day, we will return to the meeting point to conclude our exhilarating experience.
Hiking and Caving in Toro Gorge
Choosing this itinerary entails a 14-kilometer (8.7 miles) hike, also classified as medium-high difficulty. The trek will reach a maximum altitude of 2100 meters (6,900 feet) above sea level and spans between 8 and 9 hours. We’ll pause regularly for rest, meals, and to immerse ourselves in the stunning landscapes of Cordoba.
The path traverses the eastern slope of Toro gorge, showcasing magnificent scenery. As we follow the trail, we will reach a cave leading to the underground waterfall of El Toro. We will descend 40 meters (131 feet) over a distance of 120 meters (400 feet). This effort leads us to witness the second-largest underground waterfall globally, an experience you won't want to miss.
After concluding this incredible adventure, we will return to the meeting point for farewells.
