Ahead, you will find the recommended transport steps to reach the peak of Mount Pilatus, and all your tickets are provided for a hassle-free day!

Step 1 - Bus to Kriens: On the designated day, head to the Lucerne train station and catch bus number 1 heading towards Kriens. After an enjoyable 11-minute bus journey and a brief stroll, you'll arrive at the Kriens valley station.

Step 2 - Gondola to Kirenseregg: Here, hop on the panoramic gondola, which will take you on a serene 15-minute ride to Krienseregg. While you’re there, consider visiting the Restaurant Krienseregg to soak in the peaceful views from the terrace.

Step 3 - Gondola to Fräkmüntegg: Continue your adventure with another 15-minute gondola ride to Fräkmüntegg. This area offers various activities, including a thrilling rope park. You can also enjoy local cuisine at the self-service dining facility.

Step 4 - Cable Car to Mt. Pilatus: Next, experience the exhilarating ascent on the Dragon Ride cable car. Its innovative design and wide windows provide a stunning 5-minute journey, taking you up to Pilatus Kulm, which stands at an impressive 2,132 metres (6,994 feet) above sea level.

Step 5 - Leisure Time at Mt. Pilatus: Upon reaching the peak, take in the breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Lucerne and the majestic Swiss Alps. Spend some time exploring the observation gallery, unwinding on the terrace, or taking a brief hike to nearby peaks. The summit is also home to fantastic hiking trails on what is known as Dragon Mountain. Should you feel hungry, the restaurants at Hotel Bellevue and Hotel Pilatus Kulm serve good options.

Step 6 - Cogwheel Train to Alpnachstad: For your return journey, board the world’s steepest cogwheel railway, established in 1889. This spectacular descent will take you past rugged cliffs, alongside bubbling streams, and across vibrant alpine meadows, finally arriving at Alpnachstad.

Step 7 - Train to Lucerne: Finally, take a scenic train ride back to Lucerne, with your complete experience lasting between 3.5 to 6 hours.
