Dzibilchaltún Day Trip + Mayan World Museum Tour

Want to dive into the prehispanic past of Yucatán? This day trip to the archaeological site of Dzibilchaltún offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating history of this civilization in depth with a visit to the Mayan World Museum .

Activity Details

At the designated time, pick-up will be arranged at your hotel in Mérida , after which you'll set off to the archaeological site of Dzibilchaltún, located just 10 mi (17 km) north of the city.

Upon arrival, the group will discover this significant Mayan settlement that was inhabited from 500 B.C. until the conquest. During a 3-hour exploration, you'll visit the ancient structures and homes  of the site, culminating at the Temple of the Seven Dolls.

The temple earns its name from figures discovered during excavations. It is also perfectly aligned with the sun during the equinox, showcasing the impressive achievements of Mayan astronomy.

Following the archaeological site tour, the group will return to Mérida to continue to the Mayan World Museum for a 2-hour guided experience. The museum blends technology, archaeology, and art to present a comprehensive view of Mayan culture.

Designed with inspiration from the sacred ceiba, the museum holds over 1,100 pieces  including ritual items, textiles, sculptures, and tools. Guests will also enjoy interactive exhibitions and immersive projections  that uncover the worldview, science, and legacy of the Mayan civilization.

After concluding the museum tour, transportation back to your hotel will be provided, and the activity will wrap up approximately 6 hours after the initial pick-up.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

During this activity, participants will:

• Visit Dzibilchaltún, exploring the archaeological site for 3 hours.
• Learn about key structures, including the Temple of the Seven Dolls.

• Return to the hotel after the tour concludes.
