Liria Palace: A Unique Cultural Venue in Madrid
Situated on Calle de la Princesa in the vibrant center of Madrid, near the Conde Duque barracks and Plaza de España, the Liria Palace is an essential stop for anyone exploring the Spanish capital. Once the home of the 19th Duke of Alba, this remarkable building showcases a vast collection of art that enhances its grandeur.
Commissioned in 1773 by Jacobo Fitz-James Stuart y Colón, an ancestor of the current duke, the palace is distinguished by its elegant neoclassical facade. It is often affectionately referred to as the "little brother of the Royal Palace".
The palace is composed of 14 distinct rooms, each displaying a remarkable array of artistic treasures.
Special Exhibition
From February 14 to August 31, 2025, visitors can appreciate the special exhibition titled 'Flamboyant: Joana Vasconcelos en el Palacio de Liria'.
This exhibition, orchestrated by the Casa de Alba Foundation and featuring the renowned artist Vasconcelos, alongside the collaboration of the Madrid City Council, showcases her vivid works throughout the halls and gardens of the Liria Palace, establishing a pioneering dialogue with its art collections.
