A Single Pass for Madrid's Premier Museums
The Art Walk Pass grants you access to the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museums. Nestled in the Paseo del Prado area, these museums form what is known as the Golden Triangle of Art.
This area is also part of the Landscape of Light, which has been designated a World Heritage Site due to its remarkable cultural and architectural significance.
Operation of the Pass
Upon acquiring your Art Walk Pass, you will have one year from the date of purchase to visit the permanent collections of the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museums at your convenience.
You can choose to visit these museums in any sequence and on any date, as long as you remain aware of their respective opening and closing hours.
Museums Included in the Pass
The following museums are encompassed in your pass:
Prado Museum
Regarded as Spain's premier art gallery, the Prado Museum opened its doors in 1819, establishing itself as one of the oldest art venues in Madrid.
This museum features iconic works of art, including Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez, The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch, and The Third of May 1808 by Francisco de Goya, among many other masterpieces.
Additional renowned artists displayed at the Prado include Rubens, Titian, and El Greco, making it a must-visit for art enthusiasts worldwide.
Opening Hours
- The Prado Museum operates Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday and public holidays from 10 am to 7 pm.
- On January 6 and December 24 and 31, hours are limited to 10 am to 2 pm.
- Final entry is 30 minutes before closing time, and guests will be asked to vacate the premises 10 minutes prior to closing.
- The museum remains closed on January 1, May 1, and December 25.
Free Entry
Admission to the Prado is complimentary during the two hours prior to closing each day.
Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Situated in the Palace of Villahermosa along the Paseo del Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum hosts an extensive collection spanning from the 13th to the 20th century. From Renaissance pieces to modern Pop Art, this museum offers a diverse range of artistic styles.
A selection of pivotal works within the museum includes 15th and 16th-century pieces such as Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni by Ghirlandaio, Christ Among the Doctors by Albrecht Dürer, and Portrait of Henry VIII by Hans Holbein the Younger.
Additionally, highlights from the 17th and 18th centuries include Rubens' Venus and Cupid and Canaletto's Il Canale Grande a San Vio. The 19th century features works by Manet and Van Gogh, while significant 20th-century art includes Harlequin with a Mirror by Picasso and Woman in Bath by Roy Lichtenstein.
Opening Hours
- Monday: 12 pm to 4 pm
- Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am to 7 pm
- On December 24 and 31, the museum operates until 3 pm.
- Closed on: December 25, January 1, and May 1.
- Exiting patrons will be asked to leave the galleries 5 minutes prior to closing.
Free Entry
Free admission to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is available for:
- Individuals under 18
- The unemployed
- Those with a disability rating of 33% or more
- Certified educators
To gain free entry, a valid document verifying eligibility is required at the ticket office. Additionally, entry is free every Monday during the opening hours and on Saturdays from 9 pm to 11 pm.
Reina Sofía Museum
This museum is focused on 20th-century art and stands as a key contemporary gallery in Spain.
The museum's premier piece is Picasso's Guernica, a profound depiction of the anguish experienced during the Spanish Civil War.
Other essential works at the Reina Sofía include Un mundo by Ángeles Santos, Le moulin à café by Juan Gris, and Ángelus arquitectónico de Millet by Salvador Dalí.
Opening Hours
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 10 am to 9 pm
- Sundays and public holidays: 10 am to 2:30 pm
- Tuesdays: Closed
- Special closures: January 1 and 6, May 15, November 9, and December 24, 25, and 31.
Final admissions occur 30 minutes prior to closing.
Free Entry
The Reina Sofía offers free entry during the following times:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 7 pm to 9 pm
- Sunday: 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
Temporary Exhibitions
Your pass allows admission to select temporary exhibitions at the Prado and Reina Sofía Museums throughout the year, but does not cover those at the Thyssen Museum.
Skip-The-Line Benefit + Management Fees
This pass provides access to priority windows 1 and 2 at the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen. However, you may still encounter queues at these entrances, as well as at the security checks within each museum. It also includes a management fee of 5.8 EUR per individual.
Admission for Children Under 18
Visitors under 18 can access the museums within the Golden Triangle of Art for free and do not require a pass.
Maximum Group Size of 6
Note that reservations are limited to 6 individuals. Each person will receive a separate pass to visit each of the three museums included in the pass only once during the year.

Important information
How Does It Work?
After getting your Paseo del Arte Card, you'll have 1 year from the date of purchase to visit the permanent exhibitions of the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums once at your leisure.
You'll be able to visit the museums in the order you want and on the date you want, always taking into account their opening and closing times.
To use your Paseo del Arte Card:
- At the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, you can access directly by presenting your voucher.
- At the Prado Museum, you'll need to head to the ticket booths 1 and 2 to redeem your voucher for a ticket.
- At the Reina Sofía Museum, you'll need to head to the ticket booths to redeem your voucher for a ticket.
Included Museums
Prado Museum
The museum is located at the following address: Paseo del Prado s/n, 28014 Madrid. You can get there by metro as it's only a 5-minute walk from the Estación del Arte stop (line 1, the light blue one) and the Banco de España stop (line 2, the red one). The entrances to the museum are as follows:
- Puerta de Jerónimos (calle Felipe IV s/n): for visiting the temporary exhibitions and the collection. Preferential access for people with reduced mobility.
- Puerta de Goya (calle Felipe IV s/n): for visiting the collection.
Opening Times
- Usual opening times: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm
- Sunday and public holidays from 10 am to 7 pm
- On January 6 and December 24 and 31, the opening time sare from 10 am to 2 pm
- In all cases, final admission to the museum is 30 minutes before closing time. Clearance from the rooms starts 10 minutes before closing time
- The museum is closed on January 1, May 1 and December 25

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Located at Paseo del Prado, 8. The closest metro stop is Banco de España (line 2, the red one). With this voucher, you'll be able to enter directly through the turnstiles or entrances. You won't need to go through the museum ticket office.
Opening Times
- Usual opening times: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm
- On December 24 and 31, it's open until 3 pm
- Closing days: December 25, January 1 and May 1
- Clearance from the rooms starts 5 minutes before closing time
On Mondays, the museum opens from 12 pm to 4 pm. However, the museum is free on Mondays, so you cannot use this card.

Reina Sofía Museum
You'll have to enter through the entrance of the Nouvel building, located at Ronda de Atocha, 2. The closest metro stop is Estación del Arte (line 1, the light blue one).

- Usual opening time of the main room: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 10 am to 9 pm
- Sundays and public holidays: from 10 am to 2:30 pm
- Tuesdays: closed
- Special closing days: January 1 and 6, May 15, November 9 and December 24, 25 and 31
Final admission is 30 minutes before closing time.

Temporary Exhibitions
This pass includes admission for a single visit to certain temporary exhibitions at the Prado and Reina Sofía museums, which will vary throughout the season. Temporary exhibitions at the Thyssen Museum are not included.
Skip-The-Line Entry + Management Fees
Your pass lets you go to windows 1 and 2 at the Prado, the Reina Sofía, and the Thyssen, which are priority access windows. Please note, however, that if there is a queue at these windows, you will still need to wait, as well as at the access and security checkpoints at each museum. The pass also includes a management fee of 5.8EUR per person.
Children Under 18
Children under 18 can enter the museums in Madrid's Golden Triangle of Art free of charge, so they don't need to reserve the pass.
Free Tickets
Please note that the three museums offer free tickets on specific days and times. Within these times, you cannot redeem your PAseo del Arte Card.
- Free ticket to the Prado Museum: daily during the last 2 hours before closing
- Free ticket to the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum: every Monday within the opening times and Saturdays from 9 pm to 11 pm
- Free ticket to the Reina Sofía Museum: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7 pm to 9 pm and Sundays from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
