Retiro Park Guided Walking Tour
Description
In this guided exploration of Retiro Park, we will delve into the rich narratives that define Madrid's green oasis. To complement the tour, you have the opportunity to visit either the Royal Palace or the Prado Museum afterward.
Tour Details
Our meeting point will be at the Puerta de la Independencia, the main entrance to Retiro Park, conveniently located across from the renowned Puerta de Alcalá.
The guided journey through Retiro Park begins with a leisurely walk to the renowned Retiro Pond, where an impressive monument to Alfonso XII stands. As we explore, we will share intriguing anecdotes, including tales about King Philip IV, who commissioned the creation of this lake, which was part of the former Buen Retiro estate.
Continuing our adventure, we will observe the exterior of the two prominent palaces: the Velázquez Palace and the exquisite Crystal Palace, originally constructed as a greenhouse.
We will conclude our guided experience by uncovering more park treasures such as the Parterre. Nestled in one of the park's popular areas, we will stroll along its meticulously arranged paths, appreciate the precisely trimmed hedges, and admire the cypress trees shaped into delightful forms.
After a duration of 1.5 hours, our tour will conclude at the Parterre, from where you are invited to continue discovering your preferred sections of the park at your leisure.
