Toledo Day Trip + Tickets
Description
On this day trip to Toledo with tickets, we'll depart from Madrid to visit "The City of Three Cultures," where you'll see monuments like the Primatial Cathedral and the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca.
Day Trip Options
During the booking process, you can choose different options. For all day trips, we'll meet at the designated time at Calle San Nicolás, number 15. From this central spot in Madrid, located near the Royal Palace, we'll set off in a bus to Toledo, a monumental treasure located 43 mi (70 km) to the south of the Spanish capital. Before arriving, we'll have a coffee break.
Morning Day Trip
Upon arrival, we'll take a guided tour to learn about Toledo's more than 2000 years of history. We'll discover how Jews, Christians, and Muslims coexisted in the so-called City of Three Cultures and see how this past influenced Toledo's architectural style.
Strolling through Toledo's steep, cobbled streets, we'll see iconic buildings and landmarks such as the Plaza de Zocodover, the Alcázar, and the 13th-century cathedral. We'll also go inside this important temple to explore it in depth, admiring this gem of Gothic art as we visit its different chapels, taking in its spectacular stained glass windows and viewing artworks by El Greco in its sacristy.
Afternoon Day Trip
In this case, once we have arrived at our destination, we'll take a tour similar to the previous one, although instead of visiting the Cathedral, we'll visit two monuments: the Church of Santo Tomé and the Synagogue of Santa María La Blanca.
Visiting Toledo in the afternoon, we'll be able to admire one of El Greco's most famous works, The Burial of the Count of Orgaz. We'll review the links between this Cretan artist and the city of Toledo, diving into the legacy of Hebrew culture by visiting the main Jewish temple in the old town.
We'll admire the exterior of Toledo Cathedral, where you'll have approximately 20 minutes of free time. Finally, we'll return to Madrid, where we will conclude this 5-hour day trip.
Complete Toledo Day Trip
Once we arrive, we'll begin with a walking tour of Toledo's historical centre, visiting the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, commissioned by Isabella I of Castile. We'll walk around its beautiful cloister and then head over to the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, now housing an extraordinary Mudejar art museum.
Our next visit will be at the Church of Santo Tomé, where we'll get to see The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, El Greco's masterpiece.
Then, you'll have free time to have lunch on your own for about 1.5 hours.
Once we've reconvened after lunch, we'll head inside Toledo Cathedral to discover its incredible works of art. Next, we'll go on a scenic tour of Toledo to admire its architecture. We'll then go to the Mirador del Valle, a scenic viewpoint where you'll have time to take incredible panoramic photos of Toledo.
Finally, after 8 hours of beautiful architecture and artwork, we'll say our goodbyes in the Plaza de Oriente in Madrid.
Complete Toledo Day Trip + Lunch
In this option, we'll follow the same itinerary previously described and you'll enjoy a tasty lunch that includes a tapas menu, with a selection including a small casserole of sadillo manchego with ventresca, house Russian salad, a slice of Spanish omelette, scrambled eggs with ham, a small casserole of Carcamusas, and a drink (water, glass of wine, beer, or soft drink).
