Mauritius Island Private Tea Tour
Description
The Tea Route in Mauritius offers a fascinating journey into the rich history of this island nation. Embark on a private tour that will take you through three remarkable colonial estates. Let's begin this adventure!
Description
We will start our private tour by picking you up from your accommodation at the scheduled time, allowing us to delve into the significance of tea throughout Mauritius’ historical landscape.
Our first destination will be Le Domaine des Aubineaux, a well-preserved 19th-century colonial estate that serves as a museum today. Upon arrival, we will explore this landmark and uncover fascinating insights into the tea culture of Mauritius. You will also have the opportunity to wander through the splendid gardens, featuring a variety of endemic plants and trees from Mauritius.
Next, we will board the minibus again and head to Bois Chéri, a renowned location on the tea route. Here, we will continue our exploration of the island’s colonial heritage and the significance of tea cultivation. During our time at the plantation, we will observe various processes involved in tea production.
While at Bois Chéri, we will also visit its museum, where you will learn about the diverse aromas and beneficial properties of tea. The museum offers breathtaking views of the surrounding plantations, enhancing the experience.
Our tour will conclude at Saint Aubin, where we will shift our focus from tea to another vital sector of the island's economy—a former sugar cane plantation. You will also enjoy a 30-minute break to savor lunch at a local eatery.
After approximately 8 hours, our delightful excursion will wrap up as we return you to your hotel.
