Tour Overview

We will gather at the specified time at the Hotel Reserva Natural Bosques de la Pradera, nestled in the rural expanse just outside Manizales.

After a concise briefing about the moderate hike planned, during which we will pause to appreciate our surroundings, we will make our way to the designated birdwatching area. Here, you can enjoy a refreshing beverage of your choice, such as coffee, lemonade, a traditional Colombian drink, or mineral water.

From this vantage point, we’ll have the chance to observe an array of birds native to the Coffee Region. To date, the reserve has recorded 203 bird species and around 365 butterfly species. Fascinating, isn't it? We will assist you in identifying various specimens, taking into consideration several factors. You'll step into the role of ornithologists for a day!

Continuing our exploration, we’ll wander through the gardens, greenhouses, and nearby trails, including a visit to the El Bohío stream. Here, we will seek out different examples of local vegetation.

This region boasts remarkable biodiversity, with over 1,000 cactus varieties and nearly 850 species of orchids documented. Did you know that Colombia holds the title for the highest diversity of orchids worldwide? A total of 4,270 species have been recorded!

Thanks to over 20 years of meticulous cultivation, during our journey, we will encounter Colombian orchids alongside others from various regions around the globe. We will explore the stunning colors, intricate shapes, and fascinating histories of each of these exquisite flowers.

To conclude our adventure, after approximately 3 hours, we will return to the starting point.
