Marsella Day Trip
Description
Description
Embark on a remarkable day trip to Marsella, one of Colombia's most cherished towns, where tradition thrives alongside a rich cultural heritage. This journey also provides a unique opportunity to delve into the art of crafting artisan chocolate.
Marsella Day Trip
Your adventure begins at 7 am with a hotel pickup in Manizales, followed by a scenic drive to Risaralda, the department home to Marsella.
As we navigate through the picturesque coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley, you'll be immersed in the serene landscapes that characterize this region. Upon arrival in Marsella, we will visit a local agricultural farm where a welcome aperitif awaits—savory patacones served with hogao, a flavorful onion and tomato sauce crafted from fresh local ingredients.
The farm tour will introduce you to a variety of fruit trees and cocoa plants. You'll have the chance to engage in an organic chocolate-making workshop, witnessing the entire process from cocoa bean extraction to roasting and grinding. We will also create a delightful chocolate drink using the juice obtained during the workshop.
A regional lunch will follow, featuring a traditional dish such as "sancocho," a hearty chicken soup made with farm-fresh ingredients.
After lunch, we will venture into the village, making a stop in the main square for a refreshing cup of Colombian coffee. You'll marvel at the colonial architecture as we admire Marsella's iconic structures, including the Casa de la Cultura, which houses a museum recognized as a National Heritage Site.
Our visit will also include the Botanical Garden, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll, and the José María Cemetery, another popular spot among Marsella's visitors.
The day concludes with our return to Manizales, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
