Day Trip to La Virginia & El Guásimo

Your day will commence at 7 am with a pick-up from your accommodation in Manizales, followed by our drive into the picturesque Risaralda Department to explore two unique destinations.

Our first destination will be the El Guásimo Nature Reserve, nestled between the powerful Cauca and Risaralda rivers. This sanctuary is dedicated to the preservation of its rich forest biodiversity. Spanning 1,400 hectares, the reserve boasts 400 hectares of remarkable dry tropical forest, a rare ecosystem within the Andean region.

Upon arrival, we will engage in a 3-hour hike through its vibrant flora, eventually reaching the Cauca River, after which we will continue our trek for an additional hour. A well-deserved pause will follow, during which we'll enjoy a local traditional lunch featuring a main dish and a refreshing drink to rejuvenate ourselves.

Next, we will proceed to the quaint municipality of La Virginia, where the El Guásimo Nature Reserve is situated. Here, we will gain insight into the livelihoods of local residents who thrive on coffee and fruit cultivation.

As our journey concludes, we will make our way back to Manizales, expecting to return you to your hotel by approximately 1 pm.
