4-Day Journey from Marrakech to Fez

Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Roses and Dades Valleys

Your adventure begins with a pickup from the Marrakech airport or from the hotel or riad of your choice. We will commence this memorable 4-day expedition across Morocco’s interior. Our first leg takes us through the magnificent Atlas Mountains, ascending to Tizi n'Tichka, which stands at 2260 meters (7414 feet) and is the highest road pass in Morocco.

As we navigate through the Atlas Mountains, we will arrive at Ouarzazate. There, we will visit the iconic Kasbah of Ait Ben Hadu, famed for its appearances in numerous films, including Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven.

Our journey will then lead us towards Skoura, where the astounding kasbah of Amredhyle awaits. We will wrap up this enriching day by traversing the Roses and Dades valleys and settle down for dinner at our accommodation in the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga

After enjoying a hearty breakfast at our hotel in the Dades Valley, we will embark on the scenic route to the spectacular Todra Gorges. Here, you can marvel at the dramatic landscapes characterized by steep cliffs, home to local communities with deep-rooted traditions.

Our path continues through the verdant palm grove of Jorf and the quaint village of Erfoud, where we plan to stop by a traditional marble workshop. As the sun begins to set, casting an orange hue over the sky, we will arrive at the Merzouga desert. We will head to the camp where we will spend the next two nights, and before dinner, partake in an exhilarating camel ride through the dunes. The day comes to a close with a delightful dinner beneath the stars of the desert.

Day 3: Desert of Merzouga

Forget about the usual hustle and bustle. Today, we will experience a new sense of tranquility. The day begins with a mesmerizing sunrise over the Merzouga desert, as the dunes are brushed with brilliant red shades. Breakfast will be accompanied by this stunning view. Following the meal, we will venture into the desert landscapes, embarking on an off-road excursion through the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes, which are the tallest in Morocco.

We will visit the village of Khamlia for a taste of local culture before returning to our riad for dinner and some rest ahead of the final day.

Day 4: Merzouga - Rissani - Ifran - Fez

This morning starts again with breakfast by the Merzouga dunes. Once prepared for the day, we will head north to Rissani, the historic capital of the Alawite sultans. Here, you will learn more about its intriguing heritage. Subsequently, we'll cross the Ziz Valley and the scenic landscapes of the Middle Atlas, arriving at Ifran, often referred to as "the Moroccan Switzerland".

From Ifran, we will finally direct our course towards Fez. We will ensure you arrive at the airport three hours before your scheduled flight. If you prefer, we can also drop you off at a hotel or riad in the city.

During your booking, you can select from two categories of accommodation:

Standard hotels (2 and 3 stars):

• Dades Valley (first night): Hotel Babylon, Auberge Panorama, Kasbah Tifawen, or alternative options.
• Merzouga (second night): Tent camp.
• Merzouga (third night): Riad Mamouche, Dar Tafouyte, or similar.

Luxury hotels (4 stars):

• Dades Valley (first night): Dar Rihana, Ksar Sultan, Hotel Xaluca Dades, or alternatives.
• Merzouga (second night): Azawad Luxury Desert Camp or similar.
• Merzouga (third night): Riad Azawad, Riad Madu, Riad Nezha or similar.

In both hotels and desert camps, single-room occupancy is not available; double accommodations are standard. A supplement will be applicable for solo travelers. Additionally, triple and family rooms can be arranged upon request.

Standard haimas accommodate up to 4 individuals, featuring a private bathroom. Superior haimas can host up to 5, also including a private bathroom. The standard and superior camps are distinctly separate, offering varied meal options and interior designs.

Please remember that during high-demand seasons, such as Easter or Christmas, the standard-category camps may occasionally provide shared bathrooms.
