Imlil Village and Kik Plateau Day Trip
Description
Embark on a captivating journey through the breathtaking scenery of the High Atlas, with a day dedicated to discovering the charming Imlil village and the renowned Kik Plateau. This adventure promises to be memorable!
Itinerary Overview
At the arranged time, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. From there, we will board an off-road vehicle or minibus to commence our exploration of the magnificent Imlil Valley.
The adventure begins as we traverse the Haouz plain en route to the Agafay desert, just an hour away from the city. Our initial stop will be at the artificial Lalla Takerkoust Lake, whose waters originate from the stunning Grand Atlas Mountains. Here, you can engage in a delightful 30-minute camel ride.
We will continue our journey, traveling through the Imlil Valley towards the village of Aguergour, where you'll have the opportunity to partake in Moroccan mint tea with a local family, who will share insights into their traditions and lifestyle. Discover the customs of this nomadic settlement as we take in the scenic vistas of the astounding Kik Plateau.
Prior to our arrival at Imlil, we will pause in the small town of Asni. If your visit occurs on a Saturday, you'll have the chance to explore the local Amazigh market, where residents from the Atlas Mountains gather weekly to sell their goods.
Following this, we will enjoy a guided tour of Imlil. A knowledgeable local guide will present the typical architecture, which is adapted to the landscape of the High Atlas Mountains. After spending an hour in this vibrant town, we'll return to our vehicle and continue our journey through various Berber communities, distinguished by their stunning mountain backdrops. We'll make a stop in Aroumed, where you can admire the terraced landscapes filled with cherry and walnut trees, alongside views of North Africa’s tallest peak, Jebel Toubkal.
By this time, you might find yourself feeling hungry! Before we conclude our tour, you'll have the option to savor a traditional Moroccan meal in Tagadirt, hosted by an Amazigh family, should you choose. After lunch, we'll take a brief stroll around the village before making our way back to Marrakech.
After a fulfilling day of exploration lasting 9 hours, we will return to the original meeting point.
