Details of the Day Trip

At the agreed hour, we will collect you from your hotel, riad, or apartment in Marrakech. You will escape the vibrant city as we journey to the magnificent Atlas Mountains.

Our initial destination is Lalla Takerkoust, a serene mountain lake embraced by breathtaking landscapes. For those interested, a traditional camel ride offers a unique vantage point of the surroundings, followed by a moment of relaxation with refreshing mint tea served in a Berber tent.

Next, we will visit the village of Azro, located near Tahanaout, where a local argan oil cooperative awaits us. Here, we can savor a light traditional breakfast consisting of fresh bread, honey, olive oil, amlou, and mint tea, while learning about the manufacturing of local goods and the efforts of the women who manage the cooperative.

Following this, there’s the opportunity to discover a traditional Amazigh market, varying its location by the day; on Tuesdays in Tahanaout, Fridays in Tamslouht, Saturdays in Asni, and Sundays in Lalla Takerkoust. This is an ideal moment to witness rural mountain life, local craftsmanship, and culture up close.

We will then delve deeper into the Atlas, traveling through stunning valleys and picturesque villages as your guide narrates tales of local agriculture, traditions, and mountain living. If desired, you can opt for an optional hike to the waterfalls, where remarkable panoramic vistas await, along with opportunities to unwind by the water or take a rejuvenating dip, contingent on the day's conditions.

Following our hike, we will partake in one of the trip's highlights: a visit to a local family's home for a fully homemade Moroccan lunch, prepared by the women of the household utilizing cherished traditional recipes. We will gather together to relish tagines, couscous, Moroccan salads, seasonal delights, and fresh mint tea, offering a rare glimpse into the warmth of Berber hospitality.

At the conclusion of our visit, we will bid farewell to the family and begin our return to Marrakech, wrapping up this enriching 10-hour journey.
