Details of the Guatapé & El Peñol Day Trip

Upon arrival at the designated meeting point in Medellín, we will depart the urban environment and set off towards eastern Colombia. Our initial stop will be in the charming town of Marinilla, where we will savor a traditional breakfast.

Next, our adventure will take us to the renowned El Peñol de Guatapé. This impressive monolith rises to 721 ft (220 m), providing majestic views of the surrounding area. Those who choose to ascend its steps will be rewarded with breathtaking scenery, as Guatapé unfolds below. Here, you’ll have some time to appreciate this remarkable vista.

Following this, we will visit the delightful town of Guatapé. You’ll have the chance to wander along the Malecón and immerse yourself in the tales presented through the intricate reliefs in the Plaza de los Zócalos. The lively facades and authentic atmosphere of its streets are bound to captivate you.

To further engage with the rural spirit, we’ll explore the Alto del Chocho farm. This scenic viewpoint offers 360-degree panoramic vistas of the reservoir and the rolling Antioquian mountains. You'll get to experience the countryside up close and perhaps meet some friendly llamas! After this visit, we will share a typical lunch in the region.

As our journey comes to a close, we will head back, wrapping up the activity approximately 10 to 11 hours after it commenced.

• Day trip without a boat ride: experience the full itinerary outlined above, with pickup arranged at a meeting location in the El Poblado area.
• Day trip with a boat ride: in addition to the standard itinerary, enjoy a boat ride across the Guatapé dam, where you will view the ruins of Hacienda La Manuela and learn about its history. This package includes pickup at a meeting point in El Poblado.
• Day trip with boat ride and hotel pickup: this includes all the benefits from the previous option, along with convenient round-trip transportation from your hotel, assuming it’s included in the designated hotels for pickup.

• Please be informed that the schedule and stopping points of the itinerary, including meal arrangements, may be adjusted based on tour availability.
• On occasions when the Alto del Chocho farm is closed or at full capacity, we will relocate the visit to San José Theme Park. At this alternate site, you can expect a comparable quality of experience.
