Guatapé Day Trip

Your adventure begins at the pre-arranged meeting point in Medellín, where we'll promptly depart towards the east. The journey to Guatapé takes approximately two and a half hours, during which you can admire the stunning mountain landscapes of eastern Antioquia.

En route, we will pause for breakfast and a refreshing drink, along with a delightful visit to a local farm, providing you a chance to interact with llamas, fish, horses, and other animals.

After taking a leisurely 1.5-hour break at the farm, we will resume our drive to the renowned Piedra del Peñol, famously known as El Peñón of Guatapé. This gigantic monolith rises impressively over 200 meters (656 feet) above the scenic countryside.

Here, you'll have an hour and a half of free time to ascend to the summit of the Rock. Climbing the 740 steps rewards you with stunning panoramic views over the magnificent Peñol Reservoir below.

Feeling hungry? Next, we will dine at a nearby restaurant offering a full traditional lunch with three delectable dish options. After satisfying your hunger, indulge in a rumbero boat ride on the Peñol reservoir. For 40 minutes, you’ll enjoy a lively atmosphere complemented by music as you take in the stunning natural surroundings, creating an unforgettable glimpse of Colombia’s rich heritage.

The concluding part of your day involves a guided walking tour of Guatapé. During this exploration of the charming colonial town, we'll uncover its most significant landmarks, including the Church of Our Lady of Carmen and the vibrant Plaza de los Zócalos. You will also have an hour of free time to wander and discover the town at your own pace.

Following our visit to Guatapé, we will make our way back to Medellín, wrapping up a fulfilling 12-hour excursion.

Lunch Info

For lunch, you can choose from three different menu options:

• Menu 1: rice, salad, potatoes, patacón (fried plantain), and trout.
• Menu 2: the same as Menu 1, with grilled chicken replacing the trout.
• Menu 3: bandeja paisa.

If you need a vegetarian menu, please inform your guide on the day of the tour. It includes bean soup, rice, salad, patacón, eggs, avocado, and arepas.

All dishes are served with a typical regional drink: aguapanela, a sweet sugarcane water with lemon, which is a beloved natural beverage in Colombia.

Pickup Point

During the booking process, you can choose between two pickup locations:

• Parque del Poblado (Intersection of Carrera 43a & Calle 9): pickup at 7 am
• Hotel Barcelona Estadio (Cl. 47D #68A - 83): pickup at 7:30 am

Children Under 4

Children under the age of 4 can join this tour at no cost. However, there is an insurance fee of 1.50EUR applicable for each child.
