Cordon del Plata Provincial Park Trek
Description
Immerse yourself in the pristine air of Argentina's Andean landscapes as you embark on this remarkable journey through the stunning Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. It’s an ideal choice for those who revel in high mountain explorations!
Trek Through Cordón del Plata Provincial Park
Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup in Mendoza scheduled between 7:30 am and 8 am. From there, we will travel along National Route 7, heading towards the Andean villages of Cacheuta and Potrerillos. In Potrerillos, we will pause briefly to marvel at its expansive reservoir, framed by majestic mountains.
Once back in the vehicle, we will recharge with some traditional empanadas from Mendoza paired with a delightful infusion as we proceed to the Vallecitos ski resort, situated in the core of the Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. Here, we will begin an exhilarating 6.5-hour trek of moderate challenge, which will take us to heights of 12,600 feet above sea level.
Our hike will lead us through the breathtaking Quebrada de Arenales gorge towards the peaks of Pico Andresito and Cerro Arenales. Along the way, we may encounter some unique wildlife native to this region, before making our way to the summit of Cerro Lomas Blancas. At this vantage point, panoramic views of the magnificent Cordón del Plata range await. During this serene wilderness experience, we will take a moment to enjoy a delightful picnic lunch featuring sandwiches or empanadas, fresh fruit, alfajores, and other sweet treats.
Post-lunch, we will begin our descent through the Morenas Coloradas valley. By 4 pm, we will conclude our wonderful trek back at the Vallecitos ski resort. Following this, we will return to your hotel in Mendoza, arriving around 5:30 pm to 6 pm.
