trek through Cordón del Plata Provincial Park
Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Mendoza between 7:30 am and 8 am, followed by a scenic drive along National Route 7 towards the Andean villages of Cacheuta and Potrerillos. In Potrerillos, we will take a moment to appreciate the impressive reservoir surrounded by towering mountains.
Continuing our trip, we will enjoy some traditional empanadas from Mendoza alongside a flavorful drink as we head towards Vallecitos ski resort, located in the heart of Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. Here, we will embark on an exhilarating 6.5-hour trek of moderate intensity, reaching an altitude of 12,600 feet above sea level.
Our route will lead us through the breathtaking Quebrada de Arenales gorge, culminating at the peaks of Pico Andresito and Cerro Arenales. Throughout the trek, you might spot some of the incredible wildlife thriving in this region, before we proceed to the summit of Cerro Lomas Blancas. At this vantage point, you will be treated to an extraordinary view of the majestic Cordón del Plata mountain range. In this serene natural setting, we will pause for a delightful picnic lunch featuring sandwiches or empanadas, fruits, alfajores, and various sweets.
Following lunch, we will begin our descent through the picturesque Morenas Coloradas valley. By 4 pm, our remarkable trek concludes back at Vallecitos ski resort. We will then proceed to drive you back to your hotel in Mendoza, with an expected arrival time between 5:30 pm and 6 pm.
