Step into the past with this excursion to Cacaxtla and Tlaxcala, where ancient ruins and stunning murals await your exploration.

Description

At the scheduled time, our journey commences in central Mexico City on Calle Florencia. From this point, we will travel towards the Archaeological Zone of Cacaxtla, located in Tlaxcala.

After approximately two hours on the road, we will arrive at Cacaxtla to immerse ourselves in the ancient ruins and visit the site museum, which houses a remarkable collection representing the Olmec-Xicalanca culture. Explore the museum to uncover the history of this civilization that thrived in the region from 200 to 900 AD.

Once our exploration of Cacaxtla concludes, we will head to Tlaxcala. Here, a visit to the Basilica of the Virgin of Ocotlán will reveal its magnificent facade and striking white mortar towers that are sure to captivate you!

Our next stop in Tlaxcala will lead us to the former Franciscan convent, which is now the Tlaxcala Cathedral - one of the earliest Franciscan convents established in the Americas.

We will proceed with an exciting tour of the Plaza de Toros Jorge Aguilar El Ranchero, recognized as one of the first bullrings in the nation and often acclaimed for its beauty.

Accompanied by our knowledgeable guide, we will dive into the rich history of this intriguing city and explore the connections between Spain and the Tlaxcalan people. After this insightful visit, enjoy a free hour to have lunch at a local restaurant, should you wish to taste the local cuisine.

Once revitalized, we will board our minibus for the return trip to the meeting location in Mexico City, where we will conclude our 10-hour adventure together.
