Chautla Hacienda & Firefly Sanctuary Excursion
Description
Embark on a journey that combines cultural richness with a breathtaking natural phenomenon on this trip from Mexico City. Experience the historical Chautla Hacienda and the enchanting firefly sanctuary!
Excursion to Chautla Hacienda & Firefly Sanctuary
Your adventure begins with a 7 am pickup from your hotel, setting off to explore two of the region’s most scenic destinations.
Our first stop is the notable Chautla Hacienda, an expansive estate covering 60 acres. Established in 1777, this location is steeped in mystique and folklore, showcasing stunningly landscaped green areas.
At the core of this estate lies a 19th-century English-style mansion positioned in the middle of an artificial lake. Upon seeing this significant landmark, you will easily understand why it has earned the nickname 'El Castillo' (the castle). The estate once housed its own jail, as well as the first electric plant on the continent!
After exploring this fascinating site, we will continue our journey to the charming colonial city of Puebla. You will have the opportunity to wander through its picturesque streets and savor some of the local gastronomy.
Next, we will travel to the Santa Rita Tlahuapan region in Puebla, where you will be welcomed by a firefly sanctuary. Strolling through the oyamel fir forests, you will witness countless bioluminescent insects illuminating the night sky—an enchanting spectacle!
As we conclude the tour, we will return to Mexico City, arriving back at your hotel around midnight.
