Excursion to Chautla Hacienda & Firefly Sanctuary
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel at 7 am, as we set off toward two of the area's most visually stunning locales.
Our first destination is the renowned Chautla Hacienda, an estate that stretches across 60 acres, rich in history since its establishment in 1777. This site is steeped in myths and tales and showcases stunning green areas.
The property features a striking 19th-century residence positioned on an artificial lake. Upon arrival, you’ll quickly understand why this structure is often referred to as 'El Castillo' (the castle). Interestingly, the estate once included its own jail and was home to the first electric plant on the continent!
After exploring this intriguing estate, we will proceed to the charming colonial city of Puebla, where the architectural splendor will surely captivate you. You will have some leisure time to wander its delightful streets and savor the local culinary offerings.
Next, our journey will take us to Santa Rita Tlahuapan in Puebla to visit a firefly sanctuary. Here, you’ll stroll through the beautiful oyamel fir forests that envelop the town, witnessing thousands of shimmering bioluminescent insects dancing around you. It’s an extraordinary sight!
As the tour concludes, we will make our way back to Mexico City, with an anticipated return to your hotel around midnight.
