Description
Embark on a journey rich in history, culture, and tradition with this tour exploring Coyoacán and Xochimilco. Prepare for an enjoyable trajinera boat ride and the opportunity to admire the murals at the UNAM.
Tour Overview
At the agreed time, we'll convene at the chosen meeting location in Mexico City, ready to set off on our exploration of Coyoacán, Xochimilco, and the stunning murals of the UNAM, which are essential for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in Mexican culture. Be sure to keep your cameras handy!
Once everyone has arrived, we will board a minibus that will take us to Coyoacán. Interestingly, its name in Nahuatl translates to "place of coyotes." As we delve into its history, we'll uncover the significance of this neighborhood in Mexico City. A leisurely stroll along its cobblestone streets will reveal its captivating Colonial architecture.
Next, our journey continues to Ciudad Universitaria in Mexico City. This location boasts striking murals that adorn various buildings and the Central Library, featuring over 100 murals in a variety of styles and dimensions. This open-air gallery will enrich our understanding of Mexico's cultural heritage and historical narrative.
To cap off our tour, we'll venture to Xochimilco, recognized as one of the city's most iconic and sought-after destinations. Here, we will step aboard a trajinera, a vibrant traditional boat adorned with flowers. Our voyage along the picturesque canals and artificial islands, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, promises an unforgettable experience!
Following our trajinera boat excursion, you will have some free time to dine at local restaurants or explore the crafts market nearby. Afterward, we will regroup and return to the original meeting point to conclude our engaging tour about 9 hours later.
