Amealco & Aculco Day Trip

We will commence our journey at the appointed time from 70 Calle Florencia, situated at the intersection with Calle Liverpool. Our destination is the town of Amealco de Bonfil in the state of Querétaro, recognized as the center of the Lele doll, where we will discover its fascinating story.

Before reaching our main stop, we'll pause to marvel at the impressive statue of the Lele located in Santiago Mexquititlán. Throughout this tour, you will uncover the rich cultural importance of this doll, whose name translates to 'baby' in the indigenous language. Interestingly, it was recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Querétaro in 2018.

As we explore Amealco, we will visit the Santa María Parish Church, centrally located in the town. Additionally, we'll pass by the workshop where artisans craft the iconic Lele doll, situated in San Ildefonso Tultepec. Here, you will gain insight into how this art form has transformed the lives of the talented craftswomen involved in its creation.

Continuing towards Aculco, we'll make a brief stop at the stunning Concepción Waterfall. Finally, we will arrive at Aculco, a name that traces back to the Nahuatl language. Prepare to explore the intriguing aspects of this area!

At the end of this enriching day, we will allow some free time for lunch and personal exploration. We suggest visiting the San Jerónimo Parish Church, the historic public washhouses, the charming cobblestone streets, and sampling local cheese from nearby shops.

Our journey will conclude with the return to the starting point in Mexico City, wrapping up a comprehensive day of exploration after approximately 13 hours.
